My approach to being a wood artist is to discover the nature of each piece of wood as I turn it and to work with it, not against it.
If you work with natural materials, I believe it is vital to allow them to speak for themselves.
Every piece of wood has its own beauty, which I strive to reveal as I turn it; sometimes it is a surprise what can be uncovered in a seemingly plain piece of timber.
I endeavour to create wood art with a contemporary twist. I hope that it can be seen as an art form – never purely utilitarian or just a vehicle for applied decoration.
Each piece should feel wonderful to the touch and have appealing proportions – but especially individuality.
